I went to COP27 as a WCC delegate and below is a reflection, “Faith Communities at COP27” posted by the WCC. This piece is on the importance of faith communities to be present at COP27 and the need to fight for climate justice.

COP27 is being held 7-18 November, in the cradle of civilization: the magnificent Egypt. Behind the backdrop of ancient pyramids, the Red Sea, Mount Sinai, and the Nile River, numerous heads of states and world leaders descended upon COP27 at Sharm El-Sheikh to negotiate and act upon climate change policies which affect us worldwide.

During the first week of COP27, the Interfaith Liaison Committee gathered for a coordination meeting.  The platform is co-chaired by the World Council of Churches through which many partners can relate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change during climate talks. What a pleasure to be on this panel on “Climate Justice” at COP25 in Madrid, Spain.

I discussed how racism, colonialism, empire, white privilege, sexuality, ableism, classism all intersect and influence climate change.

I am inspired by those on the panel to share how #intersectionality can be used to address and demand for #climatejustice during this pivotal moment in time. #COP25 #WCC  Continue reading →
