Imagine taking a course with Dean Kelly Brown Douglas, Dr. Liz Theoharis and Karenna Gore!
These three fabulous professors are co-teaching a class, “Crossroads and Confluence: An Examination of Gender and Race in the Movements of Ecological and Economic Justice”.
It sounds like a fabulous course and I was honored to be invited to be part of the class to share about my co-edited book with Dr. Hilda Koster, “Planetary Solidarity”.
I went to COP27 as a WCC delegate and below is a reflection, “Faith Communities at COP27” posted by the WCC. This piece is on the importance of faith communities to be present at COP27 and the need to fight for climate justice.
COP27 is being held 7-18 November, in the cradle of civilization: the magnificent Egypt. Behind the backdrop of ancient pyramids, the Red Sea, Mount Sinai, and the Nile River, numerous heads of states and world leaders descended upon COP27 at Sharm El-Sheikh to negotiate and act upon climate change policies which affect us worldwide.
During the first week of COP27, the Interfaith Liaison Committee gathered for a coordination meeting. The platform is co-chaired by the World Council of Churches through which many partners can relate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change during climate talks. I have been part of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Working Group on Climate Justice. We have met online during the pandemic, so it was wonderful to see everyone face to face in Ban Herrenalb, Germany August 27-29, 2022.
