I am honored and delighted to be invited to be the guest lecturer at Perkins Summit for Faith and LearningI will be presenting the “Lunch and Learn Lecture”, Healing Our Broken Humanity, and will be teaching a course, “A Theology of Visibility,” in the afternoon after my lecture. Please join me if you are in or near Dallas.

Why is Theology of Visibility so important?

March is Women’s History Month and we want to lift up women’s voices which have often been ignored or erased. We need to remember and retell stories of courageous women who have fought for women’s rights and worked towards a more just and equal society. Women have contributed much to our society and we need to recognize women’s achievements and visions for a welcoming society.

Theology of Visibility is a helpful method of doing theology which makes visible the marginalized, oppressed and silenced voices which are often women of color. Theology of Visibility uses 4 key concepts from Asia to help uplift the voiceless and empower the invisible who are often women of color. The four Korean key concepts are “ou-ri, han, jeong and Chi” which takes us one step closer to eliminating the evils of racism, discrimination, sexism, and xenophobia. Theology of Visibility wants to move beyond experiences of oppression and work toward claiming their space in the kin-dom of God.

I hope that many will find Theology of Visibility a helpful method of doing theology, especially during Women’s History Month. Theology of Visibility encourages women, elevates women’s voices and recognizes women’s achievements and accomplishments.
