Rev. Jesse Jackson and I worked on Kenneth Bae’s release efforts from a North Korean prison. We met with the North Korean Ambassador to the UN, wrote numerous articles and 11 letters to the North Korean government.

It was wonderful to get the news of his release and meet with him in Seattle.

palmHere is my latest for The Huffington Post called, “Palm Sunday Ponderings“.  

 

This week we observe Palm Sunday. We remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem and the crowd cheered. They yearned for a powerful figure who would overthrow the Roman government and create a new kin-dom of God for the Israelites who had been subjected to one empire or another for the better part of 600 years. As he rode into Jerusalem, the crowd greeted Jesus as the one who would fulfill their desires. It was a moment of triumph. Continue reading →
