So thrilled to be promoted to Full Professor at Earlham School of Religion.
Three ESR teaching faculty members received promotions this spring with approval from the Earlham College Board of Trustees. I am so excited to finally be promoted to Full professor.
It has been a long road and am excited to see the continuous journey holds for me.
Ben Brazil was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Director of the Ministry of Writing Program. Brazil came to ESR in 2013 and has since contributed in meaningful and innovative ways to the Ministry of Writing program, including the creation of the Master of Arts: Theopoetics and Writing, and Warp and Woof, a local storytelling event. Brazil also helped with the development of the new formation core of the MDiv curriculum and contributes substantially to community life at the seminary.
Jim Higginbotham was promoted from Associate Professor to Professor of Pastoral Care. Higginbotham joined the ESR faculty in 2005 and has been an integral member of the seminary, participating in community activities, leading workshops, developing courses, and publishing his work. He served as clerk of the faculty from 2017-19, and took on the important role of Interim Associate Dean during the 2019-20 academic year to assist with the implementation of ESR’s new strategic plan and revised curriculum.
Grace Ji-Sun Kim was promoted from Associate Professor to Professor of Theology. Kim came to ESR in 2015, and has been a valuable member of community life both virtually from her home and abroad, as well as participating fully in activities when she is on campus for intensive courses. She has published extensively during this time, including five books, and has most recently been awarded a sabbatical grant by Louisville Institute for the 2020-21 academic year to work on her book Reverend Jesse Jackson: A Theological Journey.
Congratulations to Ben, Jim, and Grace on their promotions, and we are thankful for their past, present, and future contributions to the ESR community!
