THEME: The Racialization of Religious Discourses in the Academy
CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite paper proposals that explore the conference theme from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. We encourage papers that focus explicitly attention to deconstruction of the Eurocentric norms and values that often inform intellectual endeavors, and offer constructive proposals for changing this normative structuring of thought within our communities of concern.
Please send a one page abstract of presentation (i.e., it need not be a copy of the paper to be read) to:
The abstract:
should include title, theses, methodology, and theories to be used, along with the name of the presenter and institution. For full consideration, the abstract must be received by December 1, 2014.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of The Society of Race, Ethnicity, and Religion (SRER) is to create a space where communities of color and scholars of critical race theory and ethnic studies in religion can gather to discuss among themselves so as to advance their scholarship though the power of synergism
–
a space where we can engage, learn, and be challenged from communities of color other than our own.
