Winona Laduke was a powerful convocation speaker at Moravian College, September 13, 2012.  She spoke about sustainability which is the INFocus theme for the college.

LaDuke is known for her work on sustainable development, climate change and environmental justice.  She is the founder and co-director of Honor the Earth.  She has written extensively on Native American and environmental issues.

One of my favorite quotes from LaDuke is “If you are working on something that you plan to finish in your lifetime, you’re not thinking big enough.”  She encouraged us to think critically, be thoughtful and mindful.  She challenged us to live as “responsible citizens” and to understand the sacredness of the land.
